Women’s Para Hockey of Canada Unveils Roster for Upcoming World Challenge

Women’s Para Hockey of Canada (WPHC) is thrilled to announce the official roster for the upcoming Women’s World Challenge, which will be held in Skien, Norway, from October 25 to 28. This lineup showcases a talented group of athletes committed to representing Canada on the global stage.

The selected roster features 16 dynamic players from six different provinces who have demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout their training and previous competitions.

Among the 16 athletes are three individuals who will be attending the Women’s World Challenge for the first time (Manning, Picton, and Vergie). Picton has a strong international background, having previously played for the Women’s national para hockey team. She later transitioned to para nordic skiing and competed in the 2022 Paralympic Games in Beijing.

"It was extremely difficult to narrow down the roster, so I want to give credit to all the athletes who are pushing themselves and the sport to the next level,” said Tara Chisholm, Head Coach of WPHC.

This is the first time the Women’s World Challenge is being held outside of North America. As a result, the team will need to secure sponsorship and donation support to attend and represent Canada. A fundraiser has been launched with the goal of raising $30,000 to support the team’s participation.

“We are so fortunate to have a very skilled group of volunteer staff who have done an outstanding job supporting this program,” added Chisholm. “I count myself lucky to be part of a team that rolls up their sleeves and gets the work done, no matter the challenges that come our way."
