National Women’s Team Named for 2025 Women’s Para Ice Hockey World Championships

Women’s Para Hockey of Canada (WPHC) is excited to announce the roster of 15 players headed to Dolny Kubin, Slovakia for the inaugural Women’s Para Ice Hockey World Championships held from August 26-31.

The team was selected following a 3-game Border Battle against Team USA in Thorold, Ontario. The roster features 2 goaltenders, 4 defense, and 9 forwards all boasting tremendous talent, skill, and international competition experience. 6 different provinces are represented, and include Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec.

“The game series and selection camp hosted at Canada Games Park in Thorold was such a positive experience. It was great being back in my hometown area, playing in a world class facility. The team performed so well, building off the momentum that began in October at the Women’s World Challenge,” said Christina Picton, Team Canada veteran.

The 2025 Women’s World Championship will mark history as the first of its kind and a milestone for the sport. This summer will see 6 teams featured, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Norway, USA, and Team World.

“Every time this squad gets together; the bar is continually raised,” added Picton. “I’m excited to see what we’ll be able to accomplish in the months leading up to and how our team will represent Canada in .”​

To support their journey to the World Championships, Women's Para Hockey of Canada has launched a fundraising campaign. Donations will assist in covering training, travel, and accommodation expenses, ensuring the team can compete at the highest level. Contributions can be made through their official fundraising page.
