Top 20 Prepare for IPC Women's World Challenge
Women’s Para Hockey of Canada is excited to announce the 20-player Women’s National Team Roster that will train together leading up to the final selection of the 18-player roster set to compete at the 2023 IPC Women’s Para Ice Hockey World Challenge this Fall.
The 20-player roster includes three goaltenders, seven defence and 10 forwards. It features 14 women who earned a silver medal at the 2022 IPC Women’s World Challenge in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. There are plenty of youth added to the program as well as experienced athletes returning with the intention of cracking the top 18. In addition to the main roster (below), there will be four women (Amanda Fanizza, Élisabeth Bisaillon, Maggie Manning and Tuyet Yurczyszyn) who will stay as part of the WPHC High Performance program in the 2023 season allowing for depth to be built for future years.
“This was by far the most competitive selection camp our program has ever had. It was a really difficult task to narrow down to our top 20 as everyone improved throughout the 5 days in Montreal,” said head coach, Tara Chisholm.
The first event for the Women's National Team will get under way in Ottawa, Ontario from April 12-16 as the team will compete against men’s teams in the top division of the Ottawa Invitational Sledge Hockey Tournament.
